¿Qué es una punción lumbar?

Una punción lumbar es una prueba médica que implica recoger una pequeña muestra de líquido cefalorraquídeo para analizarlo. Este líquido transparente e incoloro ayuda a proteger el cerebro y la médula espinal, o sistema nervioso central, amortiguando posibles golpes.

Los médicos usan esta muestra de líquido cefalorraquídeo para detectar signos de infección o de otras enfermedades.
