Polen

El polen es un polvo fino producido por algunas plantas durante su reproducción. Durante la primavera, el verano y el otoño, es liberado en el aire y trasladado por el viento hacia otras plantas para fertilizarlas. En su interior, los granos de polen contienen proteínas que, al ser inhaladas, suelen provocar reacciones alérgicas (como estornudos, secreciones de la nariz y picazón en los ojos). El polen que provoca alergias con mayor frecuencia proviene del pasto, los árboles y las malezas. Muchas personas asmáticas son alérgicas al polen. Cuando lo inhalan, puede desencadenar los síntomas del asma.
