More about this study...Worldwide, pneumonia is the leading cause of death in children under five years of age. Akron Children's Hospital is one of six pediatric hospitals in Ohio, all members of the Ohio Children's Hospitals Association and the Children's Hospitals' Initiative for Research in Pneumonia (CHIRP), collaborating in a clinical research project with the ultimate goal of developing evidence-based, innovative management strategies for children with pneumonia.
In this trial we will observe how the body responds to an infection like pneumonia. The information we gather will help in the development of new ways of diagnosing and treating pneumonia.
