Polidipsia

Cuando la diabetes no está bien controlada, la persona que la padece puede tener mucha sed y tomar una gran cantidad de líquido. “Polidipsia” es el término médico que se usa para describir esta situación. En las personas diabéticas, la polidipsia ocurre porque el nivel de azúcar en sangre es elevado. Esto significa que los riñones tienen que funcionar más de lo normal para eliminar el azúcar. Para lograrlo, los riñones producen más orina (pis). Como el cuerpo elimina mucho líquido, la persona tendrá mucha sed y tratará de beber aún más para reponerlo.
