Includes specialty programs: Factor Distribution Program / Young Women's Bleeding Clinic
Our center is recognized by the Federal Department of Maternal and Child Health as a regional comprehensive hemophilia treatment center. We diagnose and treat children, teens and young adults with all types of bleeding or clotting disorders, including the largest population of hemophilia B patients in the world.
Through the guidelines developed by the National Hemophilia Foundation's Medical and Scientific Advisory Council, we provide the most up-to-date treatments available for bleeding and clotting disorders. Our team includes board-certified pediatric hematologists (doctors with special training in blood disorders) and social workers, as well as a nurse practitioner, nurse clinician, nurse educator, orthopedist, physical therapist and dietitian.
We also collaborate with the Northern Ohio Hemophilia Foundation to offer educational programs for youth with bleeding disorders. To promote health care independence, our outreach nurse coordinator offers training so patients and/or their family members learn how to infuse medication at home. Infusion training may be provided during a home visit or at another location in your community.
As a federally recognized hemophilia treatment center, we are supported in part by funds from the Department of Maternal and Child Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
