Hipoglucemia

La glucosa (un tipo de azúcar) es la principal fuente de energía del cuerpo. Las hormonas, como la insulina, controlan el nivel de glucosa que hay en la sangre. No es sano que los niveles de glucosa de una persona aumenten o disminuyan demasiado. La hipoglucemia ocurre cuando los niveles disminuyen demasiado. Esto puede ocurrirles a quienes sufren de diabetes. Es posible que suceda si la persona no come suficiente o si se inyecta demasiada insulina, lo cual reduce los niveles de glucosa. Las personas con hipoglucemia tal vez estén temblorosas, sudorosas o somnolientas, o sientan hambre, debilidad o náuseas. Si la hipoglucemia no recibe tratamiento, es posible que la persona se desmaye o pierda el conocimiento.
