The pharmacy at Akron Children’s Hospital stocks many over-the-counter and prescription medications, including items not available at neighborhood pharmacies such as medications for patients with cystic fibrosis, cancer and clotting disorders. We also flavor certain medications using the FlavoRX system to improve their taste, and specialize in compounding medications for children.
Children’s pharmacy also offers personal care items and specialized items for burn patients and premature babies, including preemie diapers and pacifiers. They also offer food and beverage thickeners such as Thick-It® and Simply Thick®. These are helpful for patients with cerebral palsy, seizures, swallowing problems, reflux and other digestive disorders. Items not in stock can generally be ordered for next day delivery.
In addition, we can often fill prescriptions for families and employees. Most insurance plans are accepted, and we may be able to file both your primary and secondary insurance, such as BCMH or Medicaid.
