Tarun Bhalla, MD, MBA, FAAP

Dr. Bhalla is chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and a pediatric anesthesiologist at Akron Children’s. He’s been practicing since 2010. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio and completed an anesthesiology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Ill. He went on to complete a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Bhalla has a special interest in pediatric and general anesthesia, pain medicine and ultrasound-guided pediatric regional anesthesia (opioid reduction). He is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Anesthesiology with a subspecialty certification in pediatric anesthesiology. Dr. Bhalla is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society of Anesthesiology, and he serves on the board of directors for the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiology. He has contributed to hundreds of publications, journals, book chapters and presentations covering a variety of topics on anesthesia and pain medicine. Dr. Bhalla is actively involved in research and academia, including the development of multiple academic curriculums for medical students, residents, fellows and peer colleagues. Dr. Bhalla is also a professor of anesthesiology and surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
