Meet Tara Karamlou, MD, MSc
Dr. Karamlou is a pediatric congenital heart surgeon who joined the Akron Children’s team in 2025. After graduating from Baylor College of Medicine, she completed a general surgery residency at Oregon Health and Science University, as well as a surgery residency at the University of Michigan and Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Karamlou also completed a pediatric congenital cardiac surgery fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She is a world-renowned expert in clinical outcomes research, with more than 280 peer-reviewed publications and holds national leadership positions in all cardiac surgery professional societies. Dr. Karamlou is a Cincinnati Children’s faculty member in cardiovascular surgery, a clinical professor at the University Hospital College of Medicine, and a professor of surgery at Case Western Reserve University.
