Dr. Smith is a child and adolescent psychiatrist in the Lois and John Orr Family Behavioral Health Center at Akron Children’s. He also works with patients in the hospital’s Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs. He’s been in practice since 1996 and joined Akron Children’s in 2019. Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky, where he also completed his residency in psychiatry/child and adolescent psychiatry. He has a special interest in ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
