Christine Young, MSN, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, DNP is the Chief of Hospital Based Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Akron Children’s.  Christine joined Akron Children’s in 2012 as the Director of Neonatal Services and was one of the key leaders in the design and transition of three neonatal units to the single patient room model of care for neonatal intensive care. She has been a nurse for over 25 years, holding a variety of nursing clinical and leadership roles.

She assumed her current role in 2017 and is responsible for the operations of inpatient services, intensive care units, surgical services, emergency services, school health services, home care, respiratory care, and the transport team throughout the region. As the CNO, she is responsible for the oversight of nursing practice in all settings in the organization, as well as the Center for Nursing Professional Practice, Nursing Research and the Advanced Practice Center.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ursuline College, and holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing and Business Administration in Health Care Management from University of Phoenix. She is certified as a Nurse Executive-Advanced through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  She represents the CNO constituency on the Commission on Accreditation for the Practice Transition Program (COA-PTP) through the ANCC. She is a Board Member of the Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives and a member of the Board of Directors for the Girls Scouts of Northeast Ohio.  In 2017, she was the recipient of the March of Dimes Excellence in NICU Leadership Award.
