Meet Dominic S, Parent Mentor at Akron Children's
Dominic's Story
Initially diagnosed with Infantile Spasms 5 years ago, Dominic is now diagnosed with a rare condition called Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. He has daily struggles with seizures of multiple forms, autism, ADHD, and developmental delays. Despite all these challenges, surgeries, tests, procedures, and scans Dominic continues to be a happy boy through it all.
Dominic has had two epilepsy-related procedures, one involving placement of a device called a Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS). The second surgery is uncommon, called a corpus callosotomy. He is currently going to start testing for the RNS device as no medication combination is stopping his daily seizures.
