Respite Centers

Our respite centers provide places for you to relax and escape during your child’s hospital stay. Located at both our Akron and Boardman hospital campuses, our respite centers provide all the creature comforts of home inside the hospital, near patient rooms.

Reinberger Center

Reinberger Family Center

Located on the second floor of our Akron campus, the Reinberger Family Center provides a comfortable place for you to nap, get a shower or snack, and relax. You may also stay overnight in one of the private sleep rooms, if needed.

Priority for the sleep rooms goes to those who have patients in the pediatric intensive care unit and have traveled the greatest distance. Social workers from these patient care units coordinate those decisions.

Overnight stays are typically for just one night. Those who need long-term sleeping arrangements are referred to the Ronald McDonald House, adjacent to the hospital.

If you simply need to take a nap or freshen up, you can use the sleep rooms without a referral from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Toiletries are donated to Akron Children's Hospital and made available to families. We also stock diapers, wipes, eye solution and other emergency supplies.

Contact the center at 330-543-2201 for more information.

The center is funded by grants from the Reinberger Foundation and Sterling Jewelers.
