Akron Children’s department of Public Safety works throughout our hospitals to ensure we provide the safest environment for our patients, visitors, volunteers and staff.

To maintain a safe and secure environment, department of public safety officers actively patrol our campuses on foot, in traditional police cruisers, and through video surveillance. Officers respond to all emergencies including alarm activations, investigate criminal matters, and facilitate the monthly code response evaluations and drills.

Officers assist with courtesy services such as:

  • Safety escorts to/from building to parking location
  • Disabled vehicles
    • Vehicle lock-outs
    • Battery jumps
  • Private (hospital) property accident reports
  • Maintaining a lost and found
