In-Room Activities

Akron Children’s volunteers bring fun and creativity right to your child's room with activities such as the Craft Cart, Cookie Cart and Reading Rovers. These activities offer your child a fun distraction to his hospitalization and can help brighten his stay.

Reading Rovers

Reading Rovers volunteers can use the familiar rhythm and rhyme of favorite children’s books to help relax your child. Reading time is used to provide much needed respite when you and your child are facing difficult situations.

Reading Rovers move throughout the hospital during the day, evening, and weekends toting bags of books from which children can choose. In most cases, their choice provides an escape to new and exciting places through reading.

Kids are never too young for a little pampering. Our glamour techs provide your child with a relaxing and much needed break from the hospital life. Kids can now opt for a visit from our glamour tech and relax while their hair, make-up, and nails are totally made up to their specifications. Besides, everyone deserves the right to look their best even if they are in a hospital.
