Flu Shot Availability

Getting a flu vaccine each year is safer than risking the illness, especially for young children and kids with asthma. Protect your family by getting everyone 6 months and older vaccinated. Here are the options for vaccination at Akron Children’s Hospital facilities:

Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics

Many of our pediatric practices are holding flu shot clinics, and patients can get a flu shot if they're at the office for any well-child visit or physical. Click here to see if your office has a clinic scheduled.*

School-based Health Clinics

Students in the nine school buildings in the Kenmore/Garfield cluster of Akron Public Schools (K-12) and four school buildings in Warren City Schools (Pre-K-8) can receive flu shots in our School-based Health Clinics.* 

Emergency Room - Akron and Mahoning Valley

Staff will offer the flu shot if the patient is being seen, eligible* and healthy enough receive it. No walk-ins just for the flu shot.

Urgent Care

Patients can get flu shots if they're being treated at the Urgent Care for minor injury or illness and are eligible.* No walk-ins just for the flu shot.

Inpatient Units

Patients who are hospitalized will be offered the flu shot if medically appropriate.

Locust Pediatrics

Patients of Locust Pediatrics* can receive flu shots plus:

  • Healthy Active Living patients
  • Pediatric Psychology/Psychiatry patients
  • Patients of any other specialty department in the Considine Professional Building 
  • Eligible patients (who are not ill) who ask the Welcome Center


School Health Services

Akron Children's Hospital will be offering flu vaccine clinics at some area schools. Please see the list of flu clinics here.

*Patients who are scheduled for surgery or sedation on certain dates are not eligible.

Do I Need to Schedule?

Most of the clinics listed are walk-in clinics. If you prefer to schedule at your primary care office, the best way to schedule is through MyChart.
