“Dr. Dillard’s work as the vice chair of research in neonatal and perinatal medicine will be critical in developing an academic department that contributes to the knowledge about newborn care at Akron Children’s,” said Dr. Marya Strand, Chair, Department of Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine at Akron Children’s.

She will also work closely with the chief academic officer and the Rebecca D. Considine Research Institute to build and lead a research team within the Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine department.

In addition to her research duties, Dr. Dillard will see NICU patients.

Before coming to Akron Children’s, Dr. Dillard served as a neonatologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where she also served as an assistant professor of pediatrics. She previously served as a pediatrician for the United States Air Force.

Dr. Dillard earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, completed her pediatrics residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and completed her neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She earned her Master of Medical Science degree from The Ohio State University.
