Arnold Butiu named vice president, associate chief nursing officer at Akron Children’s

Akron Children’s has appointed Arnold Butiu, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, as vice president and associate chief nursing officer. In this role, he will oversee nursing quality, evidence-based practice and research, and advance technology and innovation in nursing and patient care services.
Butiu brings more than 25 years of nursing leadership experience spanning ambulatory, emergency, surgical and inpatient care. Most recently, he served as vice president and associate chief nursing officer at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where he led system-wide initiatives including Magnet designation efforts. Earlier in his career, he spent more than two decades at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, holding progressive leadership roles in inpatient and ambulatory care, information management and quality.
His decision to join Akron Children’s was driven by the organization’s strong commitment to its mission and vision and its strategic expansion throughout eastern Ohio.
Butiu earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Boise State University, an MBA from National Louis University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Aurora University. He is dual board certified as a Nurse Executive–Advanced and Ambulatory Care Nurse and is a member of the Ohio Organization of Nurse Leaders.
Outside of work, he enjoys woodworking, repairing bikes and appliances and other hands-on projects.
