Akron Children’s has promoted Angela (Angie) Contant, MSN, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, to vice president and associate chief nursing officer, recognizing her nearly 30 years of nursing experience and commitment to nursing excellence, quality outcomes and patient care.

Contant began her nursing career in Akron Children’s Emergency Department and returned to the hospital in 2017 as evidence-based practice coordinator. Since then, she has held progressively broader leadership roles, including director of nursing for Acute Care, Akron Neonatal Services and Pediatric Intensive Care. Most recently, she served as neonatal/perinatal service line director.

“In her new role, Angie will work closely with nursing, clinical and operational leaders to advance the hospital’s strategic priorities, strengthen professional nursing practice and develop future nursing leaders,” said Chris Young, Akron Children’s chief nursing officer. “She will also help lead efforts to enhance the quality, safety and experience of care for children and families.”

Contant earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University, Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in executive leadership from Chamberlain College of Nursing, and her MBA from Capella University. She is board certified as a Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC).

An active member of regional, state and national nursing leadership organizations, Contant serves on the Ohio Organization of Nurse Leaders Bylaws Committee. Her professional recognition includes Akron Children’s Outstanding Nurse Leader Award and a nomination for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.

Contant lives in Kent with her husband, Tim, and enjoys traveling, attending concerts, watching sports and spending time with her family.
