Akron Children’s offering drive-thru flu shot clinics starting Sept. 29
09-23-2024 (Akron, Ohio)
Akron Children’s will offer drive-thru flu shot clinics beginning Sept. 29.
An annual flu shot is one of the best ways to protect kids from contracting the flu and getting severe illness, and if a child has other health conditions like asthma or diabetes, a flu shot can help keep them out of the hospital.
Based on published studies of many previous flu seasons, Akron Children’s estimates the vaccines we administered during the 2023-2024 flu season prevented approximately 12,000 influenza illnesses and 2,000 outpatient visits for influenza.
Akron Children’s drive-thru flu shot clinics are convenient for families, and everyone between the ages of 6 months and 65 years can get vaccinated without leaving the car.
Drive-thru clinics begin at 8 a.m. and end at varying times. Appointments are not required but are encouraged. To schedule an appointment and check clinic end times, visit: akronchildrens.org/flu.
