Akron Children’s makes flu shots easily available
09-27-2023 (Akron, Mahoning Valley, Ohio)
From drive-thru clinics to schools and, of course, pediatricians’ offices, Akron Children’s is making flu shots available in a variety of settings and communities to make it convenient for children to get protected during the upcoming influenza season.
Dr. Eric Robinette, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Akron Children’s, says this respiratory is arriving with the possibility of another “tripledemic,” which means flu, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) could all peak around the same time.
“The best way to minimize your risk is to vaccinate against flu and COVID-19,” said Dr. Robinette. “For infants, our highest-risk patients for RSV, there is a new product coming out that has shown tremendous promise in clinical trials. In addition, parents can help keep kids healthy and in school by stressing the importance of hand hygiene, covering sneezes and coughs, and other common-sense measures.”
Ask for a flu shot at your next office visit.
