Akron Children’s is helping families navigate pregnancy and early childhood with the launch of its new Mother and Baby App. The free digital resource provides accessible medical information, practical tools and connections to care – all in one place – from pre-pregnancy planning through childhood development.
The app is designed to give parents trusted, easy-to-use support as they make decisions about their health and their child’s care.
“We designed the app to support women from pre-conception through parenthood,” said Roderick Ingram Sr., vice president of marketing and communications at Akron Children’s. “As for kids, there are 6,574 days from birth to age 18, and we want to help parents make the most of every one of them.”
For those considering pregnancy, the app includes guidance on wellness and prenatal planning to help prepare for a healthy start. During pregnancy, users can access a weekly calendar to track each stage, along with specialized information for high-risk pregnancies or those who may need additional care.
Families can also use the app to find pediatric primary care providers, explore affiliated birthing hospitals and schedule in-person or virtual appointments. A built-in symptom checker helps parents determine whether care at home is appropriate or if medical attention may be needed, with guidance on next steps.
After delivery, the app continues to support families with age-specific content focused on healthy growth and development throughout childhood.
Additional features include access to MyChart, appointment scheduling and a location finder to connect families with care when and where they need it.
“The Mother and Baby App empowers moms with the information and tools they need to support their own health and their child’s development,” Ingram said. “It puts trusted guidance right at their fingertips.”
The app is free and available for Apple and Android devices.
