Gordon Edwards named CFO at Akron Children’s Hospital

10-03-2022 (Akron, Mahoning Valley, Ohio)

Gordon T. Edwards has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as chief financial officer.

Since 2015, Edwards has held a variety of executive leadership roles with the Marshfield Clinic Health System, an integrated nonprofit health system in Wisconsin with more than 12,000 employees including more than 1,600 providers comprising over 170 specialties, a health plan, and research and educational programs. He has been chief operations and financial officer since 2019.

Prior to that, he was the system vice president of finance and Columbia Network CFO for PeaceHealth, a nonprofit health care system which operates in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. He has also been the CFO at Gunderson Lutheran Health System, vice president and controller at Legacy Health System and manager at KPMG and Arthur Andersen.

Edwards earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration with health care emphasis from Viterbo University, La Crosse WI. He is a certified public accountant in Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin, and a fellow with the Healthcare Finance Management Association.

“Gordon has quickly settled into his new role at Akron Children’s and we are excited to have a seasoned leader with extensive experience in finance and health care systems join our executive team,” said Chris Gessner, president and chief executive officer.

Edwards assumes the role from Alicia LaMancusa, who has served in the role on an interim basis for past 14 months.

Edwards resides in Hudson with his wife and three children.
