Why do some researchers say there is a risk when using Tylenol?

Some researchers are investigating theories like effects on inflammation or oxidative stress and looking for links between Tylenol and autism. But remember that links don’t equal cause, and so far no proof has been established. Major health groups still believe acetaminophen use is safe and really important for treating symptoms that we know can cause harm. These groups include:

  • The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
  • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
  • The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM)
  • Autism Science Foundation
  • The World Health Organization (WHO)
