Why are many doctors still recommending the old vaccine schedule when there's a new one?

Because many pediatricians and medical organizations believe the long-standing schedule is safe, effective and supported by decades of data. At Akron Children’s, we are not changing our vaccine schedule. We are following the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines. We have always utilized shared decision-making with our parents  – recommended vaccines are discussed at every visit, parents are given the chance to ask questions, and then vaccines are administered with their consent.
