Is natural immunity better than vaccines?

Immunity from infection and immunity from vaccines can both be effective. But, natural immunity requires a child to get sick first, which can cause serious harm, long-term complications or even death. Vaccines provide protection without the same risks. For most diseases, vaccination is the safer choice.
