Can my child get the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine as separate shots instead of the combined MMR vaccine?
Not at this time. The August 2026 executive order directs federal agencies to explore making separate measles, mumps and rubella vaccines available in the future, but the combined MMR vaccine remains the standard vaccine currently used in the United States. If separate vaccines become available, families should discuss the benefits and risks of different options with their pediatrician.
