Army of Moms

Featured Image

Akron Children’s Hospital and the Molly Ann Gries Foundation have developed the Army of Moms training program to reduce the rising number of unsafe sleep-related deaths in the Summit County Black community.

Mothers within the Black community are recruited participate in educational sessions about infant mortality and safe sleep. These mothers are asked to share these lessons with at least five other new or expectant mothers, and encourage them to also complete the Safe Sleep Academy. Participants are provided with incentives to encourage their participation, as well as the expansion of the Army of Moms.
