Celebrate the Plate TB4

What is Celebrate the Plate?

Celebrate the Plate is a fun, popular fundraiser that brings people together throughout Northeast Ohio in support of Akron Children’s Hospital. The money raised by Celebrate the Plate helps the Women’s Board support the hospital’s mission of providing care to babies, young children and teens, as well as burn victims of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay.

Here are the details:

Who: Hosts invite their friends, families and neighbors to attend a meal.

What: Casual or elegant, as host, you decide the theme of your event. In 2022, parties ranged from backyard movie nights, barbecues and euchre dinners to bowling tournaments, tennis and lunch, and a Mother’s Day brunch.

When: Hosts can choose a date anytime between May 1 - 31, 2023

Where: Hosts can choose the location of their fundraiser. Have it in your home, your backyard, your favorite restaurant, a bowling alley, a park, or anywhere you are comfortable entertaining.

Questions? Contact Sue Pristic at suepristic@gmail.com or 864-706-9562 or Laurice Moore at lse04moore@yahoo.com or 440-263-5076 with questions.

Become a Host or Make a Donation

We appreciate your interest in becoming a host for our 2023 Celebrate the Plate fundraiser.

Here are some things to consider:

Hosts choose the venue: The party setting is completely up to the host

Hosts choose the menu: Catered or home cooked, appetizers only or five-course epicurean delight, the food is completely up to the host

Hosts choose the guest list: Invite as many or as few guests as you are comfortable entertaining.

Hosts choose the invitation:  Printed, electronic or verbal, you know what’s best for your guests.

Hosts set the budget: Spend as little or as much as you’d like.

Support Akron Children’s: Hosts are asked to commit to a minimum $1,000 donation. This can be fully paid by the host or split among guests. Some events, like last year’s bowling party, charged an entry fee. A QR code will be provided to each host to be displayed during your event. Guests can scan the code and automatically link to the donation site. Giving is easy.

The History of Celebrate the Plate

Since 2014, Celebrate the Plate has brought people together throughout the greater Akron area to make a difference. It has become one of the Women’s Board’s most popular event fundraisers and has allowed us to increase our proceeds each year to support Akron Children’s. Our goal is to raise more interest and expand our reach into new communities that appreciate and rely on the care Akron Children's provides families throughout the region.

The growing list of participating neighborhoods includes: Akron, Bath, Copley, Cuyahoga Falls, Downtown Akron, Fairlawn, Fairlawn Heights, Green, Highland Square, Hudson, Medina, Portage Lakes, Richfield, Sharon Township, Silver Lake, Tallmadge, Twinsburg and West Akron.

Why Host?

"We do it because we believe in the cause, but fundraising can be fun!"

- Eric Jones

"As a past co-chair of Celebrate the Plate, it has been very exciting to see the popularity of this event grow over the years. This year’s event will continue the tradition of food, fun and fundraising while offering a new format. I encourage all to join in the excitement of participating in the 2022 Celebrate the Plate weekend of festivities!"

- Peg Stalter, Women’s Board President

"We had an enchanting evening as we converted our home to a speakeasy that was visited by all the characters of the game of Clue.  Such fun as we figured out the mystery murder and identified the culprit among us.  Great evening with old friends and making new ones.  It was an honor to be able to support the kids of our community and Akron Children’s Hospital."

- Lisa Aurilio, chief operating officer at Akron Children's Hospital, and Dianne LaCerva

"We enjoyed hosting a themed party of Warsaw meets (Frank Lloyd) Wright and had a ball picking out Polish beers and Polish Vodka to serve with Grace’s home-made pierogies, kielbasa and other Polish-inspired foods. I think our guests really enjoyed the pierogi making hands-on demo!"

- Dr. Robert McGregor, chief medical officer at Akron Children's Hospital

"I enjoyed hosting Celebrate the Plate so much that once was not enough! The second time, my daughter co-hosted and it was such a gift to see her satisfaction in raising money for such an important organization."

-  Caroline Gronowski
