At Akron Children's, we know that hospitalization can be a frightening prospect for a child (and parent). That's why we've created a calm, engaging environment that nourishes and soothes.
Akron Children's Hospital in downtown Akron and in the Mahoning Valley at our Beeghly campus have age-appropriate playrooms and activity rooms on every unit for children and teens well enough to enjoy them. The playrooms and activity rooms offer patients an unstructured atmosphere where they can express themselves and just have fun. They include toys, video games, board games, movies and books. For teens, there's even a pool table.
Playrooms are supervised by child life specialists, assisted by volunteers and college child life students.
