Radiology utilizes iPads for screening forms and informed consents. Please be assured that these iPads are cleaned between patients. We also provide additional overflow waiting areas, should our waiting room get too crowded or for anyone that may be immunocompromised.
We are experts in selecting the best imaging techniques to diagnose medical and surgical problems in infants, children and teens. We were the first hospital in Ohio — and the second children's hospital in the U.S. — to receive a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence® designation for our commitment to low-dose radiation.
Sometimes doctors need more than a medical history and physical exam to make an accurate diagnosis. We offer a full range of imaging tests to help diagnose health conditions and injuries affecting kids — everything from fractures and heart issues to head injuries and cancer. We make sure that testing is performed properly and safely, with the lowest dose of radiation necessary.
We also tailor our medical equipment and diagnostic approach to fit the unique physical and emotional needs of children. Our team includes pediatric radiologists, nurses who are skilled in procedural sedation, radiology techs and child life specialists who help alleviate anxiety during procedures.
Our radiology team also includes pediatric neuroradiologists who are specially trained in diagnosing disorders affecting the brain, spine, head and neck − ranging from tumors and infection to seizures and headaches.
We have detailed knowledge of illnesses, injuries and medical conditions that affect infants, children and teens, and are specially trained to understand the unique needs of children, parents and pediatricians in the diagnostic process.

At Akron Children’s, your child’s health and safety is our priority. Please continue to bring your child for wellness visits, vaccinations or sick care appointments that keep children healthy. We want to assure you that we have taken additional precautions to ensure a safe environment for your child and family. The following are additional safety efforts, in addition to our normal cleaning protocols, that we are taking to help you be comfortable bringing your child to an appointment.
The number of caregivers permitted to accompany a child to an appointment is dependent on the department you are visiting. Everyone visiting an Akron Children's facility is asked to wear masks or face coverings, except for kids under 2 or those with sensory issues. Masks will be provided for visitors who do not bring their own.
When you arrive at Akron Children's, you will be met by a greeter who will take your temperature and ask you a few questions.
While in the waiting rooms, you'll notice signs and a limited number of chairs. This is to remind our patients to keep 6 feet of physical distance between your family and others.
Call your child’s healthcare professional if your child is sick with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing and has been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, or if you live in or have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19. Your health care professional will work with Ohio’s public health department and the CDC to determine if your child needs to be tested for COVID-19.

The referring provider should complete and fax the Radiology Order Sheet to 330-543-3250 prior to scheduling a radiology procedure at any location. When possible, include the prior authorization number to ensure prompt scheduling.
