Reiki Therapy for symptom management

Reiki Therapy for Symptom Management : A Feasibility Study in Young Children receiving Palliative Care

IRB Study ID: 160801

Reiki therapy is a light touch, non-invasive technique. The study looks at the effects of Reiki therapy on pain, heart rate, respiratory rate, stress, and quality of life in children ages 1 to 5. We hope to provide evidence that Reiki therapy is relaxing and beneficial for children and can improve their quality of life.

Study Sponsor:

The Ohio State University 

Who May Qualify:

A child who is 1 to 5 years old and is receiving care through the Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care Center. The child should be expected to be in the hospital for at least 3 weeks.

Who Does NOT Qualify:

Children who are likely to be discharged from the hospital in the next 3 weeks, children who are critically ill, or children who will turn 6 years old during the six week study period.
