Quality and Patient Safety:

Efficient

Quality/Patient Safety Goal:

Drive-thru Flu Shot Clinic

Goal & Summary

We are committed to efficient care at Akron Children’s while providing a patient- and family-centered approach.

Why is this important?

In the past, flu shots were given to patients during a “shot-only” appointment in a medical office, during a regularly scheduled office visit or at a discrete in-person flu shot clinic. We recognize this options could be inconvenient for our patients and families, so we developed an easy-in/easy-out flu shot option – specifically a drive-thru flu shot clinic.

What are we doing to improve?

We built a flu shot improvement team dedicated to developing and testing improvements to our flu shot delivery processes. This team created a new, high-efficiency drive-thru flu shot clinic, and we were able to give a higher number of flu vaccines and over a shorter period of time.

What progress have we made?
