What Is Roseola?

Print Page

Roseola

Say: RO-zee-oh-luh

This word looks like it might have to do with roses. But roseola (also called sixth disease) is a sickness that's caused by a virus. It usually affects babies and kids younger than 2 years old. Kids with roseola get a high fever for a couple of days to a week. When the fever goes away, they get a pinkish-red rash on their belly and chest that lasts from hours to a few days.
