Food Farmacy

Featured Image

The Food Farmacy pilot program was launched in February 2023 to help patient families combat food insecurity and improve their access to healthy food choices. The program is initially serving patient families seen at the Locust Pediatrics Primary Care Group and the Endocrinology Department. Families served in other hospital service areas will be added throughout the year.

Families who screen positive for food insecurity during their patient visits, and who meet income-eligibility requirements, will be referred to the Food Farmacy pantry by the department staff. There will be a particular focus on patients with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, food allergies, and cerebral palsy.

The pantry is located in the Considine Professional Building between the Smucker’s Bistro and the Vision Center. It is open Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., closing for lunch 12-12:30 p.m. For questions contact foodfarmacy@akronchildrens.org.
