Akron Children’s again recognized as a Plain Dealer Top Workplace

06-29-2020 ( Ohio )

Akron Children’s has earned recognition as a Top Workplace by the Cleveland Plain Dealer for the sixth year in a row. This honor is based entirely on employee feedback through a survey administered by Energage, LLC, a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture including alignment, connection and execution.

Sixty-eight percent of 3,685 Akron Children’s employees who received the survey completed the questionnaire. Employees gave the hospital high marks in several areas including: Values (Akron Children’s operates by strong values, including living our promise to treat others as they would like to be treated), Direction (I believe Akron Children’s is going in the right direction) and Open-mindedness (Akron Children’s encourages different points of view).

“It’s incredibly gratifying to receive an award based on employee feedback,” said Rhonda Larimore, chief human resources officer at Akron Children’s. “Our employees have always understood that working here is more than a job. Each day they strive to honor the three promises the hospital was founded on 130 years ago: Treat every child as we would our own; Treat others as they would like to be treated; and Turn no child away for any reason. We’re committed to supporting their dedication by working each day to ensure Children’s provides a diverse and inclusive work environment where we treat each other with dignity and respect.”

Larimore added, “While this award celebrates Akron Children’s role as a Top Workplace in 2019, our leadership team also wants to take this opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, flexibility and resiliency our employees have shown in caring for children and families throughout this unique and challenging time.”

“In times of great change, it is more important than ever to maintain a connection among employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward based on real-time insights into what works best for your organization. The Top Workplaces program can be that positive outcome your company can rally around in the coming months to celebrate leadership and the importance of maintaining an employee-focused culture, even during challenging times.”
