My wife, Melissa, and I have two wonderful boys, Tim and John. Tim has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He had been thirsty and using the bathroom more than usual. Diabetes was the furthest thing from our minds. Today, we have adapted and Tim leads a full, rich life. He is a Cub Scout, plays sports and enjoys school. We keep up hope for a cure, and live every day by keeping Tim healthy. He wears the Omnipod insulin pump and sometimes uses the Dexcom. After Tim's diagnosis, I found that talking to other parents gave me some comfort. I would also like to provide parents who are new to type 1 diabetes the same comfort.
