Meet Patrick M., Parent Mentor at Akron Children's
Patrick's Story
Our daughter was diagnosed with biliary atresia, an incurable liver disease, at 10 weeks old. She underwent a Kasai procedure and a Ladd's procedure at Akron Children's, which helped slow the progress of the disease. Unfortunately, her disease continued to progress and after a few weeks her doctors determined that she needed a liver transplant. She received her new liver at four months old and after a few rocky months she was healthy. We still go to Akron Children's Mahoning Valley for lab work.
Patrick is a parent mentor for these conditions: Biliary Atresia, Intestinal Malrotation.
Patrick is a mentor for these care services: Gastroenterology, Surgery
