At 2 ½ years of age, our son was hospitalized with a severe traumatic brain injury from an automobile accident. He was in the PICU for 1 ½ weeks, and on the 7th floor for 1 ½ weeks (at which time he underwent surgery to receive a PEG feeding tube). We were then transferred to the Cleveland Clinic's Health Hill Rehabilitation Hospital for pediatric inpatient rehabilitation for 3 weeks. We promptly returned to Akron Children’s Rehabilitation Day Hospital for outpatient rehabilitation for another three weeks. Our son underwent follow-up for approximately 4 years after his initial injury. We are very blessed as he is currently a very active 9-year-old boy!
