Meet Kim M, Parent Mentor at Akron Children's
Kim's Story
Faced with many challenges since his first seizure at 9 months old, Luke continues to smile through it all! He has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, mitochondrial disease, CVI, scoliosis and impaired airway clearance. Luke has been hospitalized many times in his 23 years for seizures, lung infections, surgery complications and other issues. Despite daily seizures, being non-verbal, having vision issues, and muscle tone issues, Luke has been able to use communication devices and can walk with assistance! He has accomplished all of this with help from the amazing therapy department at Children's. I am a huge fan of the hospital and I truly enjoy helping other parents by sharing the experiences & knowledge I have gained through my son's journey.
