Meet Janelle W., Parent Mentor at Akron Children's
Janelle's Story
My twins were born 13 weeks early, and faced many obstacles during their 4-month stay in the NICU at Akron Children's. Kohyn, my daughter, was diagnosed with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). She was also diagnosed with failure to thrive when she rejected eating. Eventually, she was sent home with a g-tube that she used for 2 years before becoming an independent eater. Her brother, Kasen, contracted RSV and was admitted to the PICU for 2 weeks with respiratory distress. He has since been diagnosed with asthma. Today, both are thriving 3 ½ year olds that have proved miracles do happen!
Janelle is a parent mentor for these conditions: Anorexia Nervosa, Asthma, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Failure to Thrive, Respiratory Syncytial Virus.
Janelle is a mentor for these care services: Asthma, Developmental Delay, Feeding and Nutrition, NICU
