Module 1 - Immunizations

Goals:

The student will gain understanding about recommended childhood vaccines including the importance of vaccines, risk of delaying/skipping vaccines, newly recommended vaccines, and common myths regarding vaccines.

Objectives:

Following the outpatient pediatric rotation, the student will be able to:

  1. Name vaccines recommended in the childhood vaccine schedule
  2. Name vaccines recommended for adolescents
  3. Describe existing myths about vaccines
  4. Explain the concepts of cocooning and herd immunity in regards to vaccines
  5. Describe what a VIS is and common side effects of vaccines
