FCLC Graduate and Undergraduate Training

Graduate and undergraduate students from Kent State University, as well as the University of Akron and Case Western Reserve University, are placed at the Family Child Learning Center for intensive training in early intervention strategies. These training programs are designed to help students acquire the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience necessary for working with young children with developmental concerns and their families.

Each year the center provides more than 3,000 hours of student experience, supervision and research opportunities. Students represent a variety of academic programs, including speech-language pathology, school psychology, audiology, early childhood education, special education, and family and consumer studies.

Opportunities for students range from one-time observations to intensive 20-hours-per-week traineeships.
