Akron Children’s Hospital to open outpatient health center in Sandusky

Akron Children’s  is bringing pediatric primary care and specialty services to Sandusky and surrounding communities. Akron Children’s Health Center, Sandusky is located at 2800 Hayes Ave., Building G. 

The primary care practice – called Akron Children’s Pediatrics, Sandusky – will be the 35th location in the Akron Children’s Pediatrics network. It opens Oct. 26 with provider  Blair Mayfield, certified nurse practitioner.  

“For babies, kids and teens in the Sandusky area, we’ll provide care ranging from annual wellness checkups to treatment for illness and chronic conditions,” said Mike Mainwaring, Akron Children’s vice president of community care. “Now is the perfect time for parents to establish care at our new office and make sure their kids are up-to-date on immunizations, including the annual flu vaccine.”  

Akron Children’s Pediatrics, Sandusky will feature eight exam rooms and separate waiting areas for sick and well patients. Office hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Behavioral health services will be available in the pediatrics office later this year. Pediatric heart care subspecialty services will be available at the Sandusky health center beginning in December. Pediatric cardiologist J.R. Bockoven, M.D., will provide outpatient cardiology care including evaluations for chest pain, dizziness, murmur, palpitations and congenital heart disease. Services will also include electrocardiograms, echocardiograms and placement of home rhythm monitoring devices. Call 330-543-8521 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
