Pediatric Resident Life

Akron Zoo

Akron Zoo

Physicians who choose Akron Children's for their pediatric residency program will not only be exposed to a fast-paced and rewarding training program, they'll also be a part of an active social community.

Even though residency training is a full-time job, our pediatric residents still find time to have fun together and enjoy the resources available in the greater Akron community. With larger cities and Lake Erie nearby, the cultural and outdoor activities are limitless.

Our residential communities vary from urban settings to more rural communities, most within a 20- or 30-minute drive.  We also provide opportunities to serve locally as well as overseas, where the medical needs are significant.

Special Events

Organized events are held throughout the year for residents, including retreats.

During the holiday party in January, residents celebrate the winter season by dancing the night away with their co-workers and significant others. To celebrate the end of the academic year, residents attend a “Wellness Day” at a local country club where you can swim, play tennis, golf, and enjoy spa services.

Residents are also invited to the Noah Miller Recognition Dinner, the annual residency graduation, where the graduates’ accomplishments are celebrated by the faculty and their families. Faculty cover clinical services during this event so residents can attend.
