Shadowing and Student Opportunities
Akron Children's provides unpaid learning opportunities to help individuals understand more about healthcare career options and skills required for specific occupations.
Participants have the opportunity to experience the workplace setting as well as the duties performed by the healthcare professional they are observing; participants are not permitted to perform work of any kind, including patient care.

Pre-Application Requirements:
Job shadowing is a one-time, observation-only experience, generally 4 to 8 hours in duration, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications must be submitted at least three weeks prior to the requested date. Please read the complete information below and complete the following actions prior to submitting your application:
- Contact the department in which you wish to shadow. For physician shadowing, please locate the physician then contact them at their location.
- Receive permission and confirmation from the department where you will be shadowing.
- Attach proof of flu vaccine.
