Make Every Moment Count - Nursing Excellence

    Featured Image for Nursing Excellence

Akron Children’s nearly 2,500 nurses are among the best anywhere, known for their quality of care, clinical expertise and boundless compassion. And they’ve earned us Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for 20 years – something less than 2% of hospitals like Akron Children’s achieve. This program provides a roadmap to continued nursing excellence and acknowledges nursing staff at the top of their profession.

Pediatric nursing is critical and challenging. With the increasing complexity of cases our nurses face, stress and burnout are especially real for pediatric nurses – but we are making a difference in attracting, training and retaining the best pediatric nurses around.

    • Provide career pathway initiatives, advanced training and certification.
    • Enhance wellness initiatives to support our nurses.
    • Leverage leading-edge technology and transformational care delivery, like our Virtual Nursing program.
    • Grow our pediatric nursing research program to enhance evidence-based care.
    • Provide robust fellowships and residency programs.

Aliyah says participating in the ASCEND program has been the highlight of her nursing school experience.

More possibilities, through the continued strengthening of Akron Children’s nursing programs, technologies, education and recruitment.

“The ASCEND program has been the highlight of my nursing school experience. I could not have asked for a better unit than the PICU. The staff and my mentors have all been so helpful and welcoming. I am so excited to be staying on as a nurse tech and hopefully as an RN when I graduate.”
