Module 3 - Behavior

Goal: Students will recognize and be able to provide brief parental counseling on common behavioral issues in children.

Objectives:

Following the outpatient pediatric rotation, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe common behavioral problems in different age groups such as:
    • Newborn/infants: sleep problems, colic
    • toddler: temper tantrums, biting, toilet training, feeding problems
    • school age: whining/lying, ADHD
  2. Describe some management techniques of common behavioral concerns such as discipline, toilet training, and eating issues.
