Make Every Moment Count - Behavioral Health
Today, kids from across the country and in our communities are experiencing an unprecedented surge in behavioral and mental health issues. What is important is seamless behavioral health care across all disciplines, support and access for teens, and research and investments that attract top physician scientists. We are always improving the way we care for the whole child – physically and emotionally.
The Akron Children’s answer
To increase access to quality behavioral health services, Akron Children’s is transforming the model of pediatric behavioral health through:
Collaboration – with community partners throughout the region.
Integration – of all care disciplines to reach goals, target outcomes, and provide seamless care for patients and families.
Ecosystem – assessing the child’s environment to support change in a child’s behavior. Already in its early stages, this approach is taking our superior care to new levels by integrating inpatient and outpatient services and allocating more resources to our regional pediatric care centers. We’re also prioritizing culturally sensitive care and increasing standardization of evidence-based treatments for issues such as depression, trauma, addiction and aggression.
Your support can:
- Build inpatient behavioral health and acute stabilization units on the Akron Children’s Hospital,
- Akron campus.
- Integrate behavioral health services across all of our locations.
- Establish new models for addiction intervention and treatment.
- Provide robust fellowships and residency programs.
- Expand behavioral health faculty research.
- Provide innovative technologies that will allow access when needed.

“If one of my friends was finding it hard to function every day, I’d want them to know it’s always a better option to reach out and get help instead of trying to figure it all out themselves.”
