Objectives (Educational Content) :

1. Understand the clinical features of scabies infection in the pediatric patient.

2. Differentiate scabies infection from dermatologic ‘look-alikes’.

3. Review management of scabies and scabies complications.

4. Identify scenarios where subspecialty referral is indicated.

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Pediatric healthcare providers need improved clinical knowledge and diagnostic skills to accurately identify and manage scabies infections. Education is needed to help differentiate scabies from similar dermatologic conditions, understand appropriate treatment strategies and complications, and recognize when subspecialty referral is warranted.
